GAMEPLAY. Free-storytelling: no dice, no mechanics. Three storytellers tell
facts and
dramas for 7 days. By the end of the week the game is over. A
fact is a curiosity, something striking about the world, its history, its look. Treat it like a jewel: it has no plot, but its shiny. A
drama is a story of a vivid character who overcomes some difficulty. Or - as often as not - it is some difficulty that gruesomely overcomes him if you are into
that kind of dramas. I must admit, I am very much into them myself. If you are introducing a
fact, your post must have a title
FACT in bold. If you are producing a drama it doesn't require a title, but it would look stylish if it had.
STYLE & GENRE. Here's an importnat thing: we are writing
horror stories. Characters see things people shouldn't see. Hell, they probably
do things people shouldn't
write about. So,
bear it in mind whenever you are itching to slip into comedy.
WRITING PROCESS. I want to experiment with meditative writing. Simply put, you do it this way: you sit down and start pouring whatever associations, images, ideas, etc. happen to pass through your mind at the moment. If it's a wall of text - that's ok, if it's just a line -
that's fine too. The idea is to make it in a less rational and a more intuitive way, than we usually do. We are writing horror, after all.
There is nothing rational about horror.
GENERATION &
RULES. - Name - Storyteller 1, 2, 3. Other boxes - empty;
- If you are writing facts, you don't need pics, but for each drama you'll have to create a character with a history, a psychological portrait and a picture;
- There is no turn-order. You can even write multiple stories in a row. But you have to take into account any world changes and facts created before. In the end this module will look like a series of short horror stories and setting-facts;
- It is not necessary to link the stories. You may write whatever you want within the setting. The only linking detail is the location - Guilliotine Valley, The Crimson Republic. These days it's just a community of very red-cheeked and very bright-eyed honest republicans. But the memory of his cry is fresh like a wound. The smell of his blood almost hangs in the air, making heads of the outsiders sway;
- If you are a reader and suddenly feel like writing, let me know and hop in! Until it's Day 7, certainly.
- In posts and in the discussion thread - it's English only. It's part of the new experience.
